If emailing a group of people (but not sending a mass mail, like a newsletter) then consider putting appropriate addresses in the CC field, rather than in the ‘To’ field.
If someone is ‘copied into’ a mail, they can infer that it’s FYI – for your information only, and therefore no action is required.
Email sent directly to a person should need some kind of response (not always an email reply) and mail ‘carbon copied’ to someone should be just to keep them in the loop and to avoid excluding them. CCing isn’t about covering your back or including your manager on simple requests to colleagues. Be an adult.
